You then have to click on the database "tab" in the ribbon (that only shows AFTER creating a database diagram).Īs noted, you could double check as posting this in the Visio forum as opposed to "Access". I don't have 2013 setup at this point in time, but I can say that in 2010 the option ONLY appears AFTER I create a database diagram. I do see something similar called "Link Data to Shapes" but it seems to only want to let me do one table from the DB at a time, even if I uncheck "Connect to a specific table" on the 3rd step The "Reverse Engineer" option is gone from what I can see. I would also suggest you ask in a Visio forum, since I not yet used 2013, but the reverse engineerr option does exist However, since you are asking about only about reverse engineering and that of creating a diagram, then Visio should be just fine here. In other words you cannot use the diagram after you are done to create a database for you (forward engineer). Note that while Visio will allow you to reverse engineer an Access (or SQL server), or several other types of databases to create a diagram, you cannot FORWARD engineer. You will have to setup a connection to SQL server. You can choose Access, SQL server, and in fact can even choose ODBC. I done this with 2010, I don't think this option is gone in 2013? Then in the ribbon on the "database" tab that appears as results of choosing to create a database diagram, then you choose reverse engineer. I not sure quite why you asking about Visio in the Access database forum?Īnyway, you simply create a new blank database diagram.
